A trip to Denmark. A remarkable clog. The beginning of Dansko.
In 1990, founder Mandy Cabot travelled to Denmark to buy a horse and discovered a clog that stayed comfortable through long days in the barn and beyond. She saw the potential to share that comfort with women whose days took them everywhere.
Founded by a woman and led by women, Dansko has grown into more than a footwear brand. Its shoes are made for people who pursue big ideas, take on busy days and aren't afraid to get a little dirty along the way.

Our work is guided by individuality, care for people and the planet, and the belief that everyday pursuits matter. We share those values with women who find as much joy in wearing Dansko shoes as we do in making them.

The contoured footbed and rocker bottom of the original clog shaped our approach to comfort. We bring that same thinking to every new style we create.

Who We Are Today
We're an employee-owned company.
In 2012, Dansko became 100% employee-owned through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan. Founder Mandy Cabot sold the company to the people who helped build it—her employees—so they could carry its values forward.
From the barn to the wider world, Dansko grew as more people discovered the comfort and character of its shoes.

What is your return and exchange policy?

How should my Dansko clogs fit?
Allow about a little finger’s width between your heel and the back of the clog. Your heel should be able to move naturally as you walk. Check our size guide for more help.
What is the APMA Seal of Acceptance?
The American Podiatric Medical Association awards its Seal of Acceptance to footwear it has evaluated for supporting foot health. Look for the seal on eligible Dansko styles.
